The Longest To Do List

I think I am in the middle of more projects than ever before.

My friend Brooke got several of the usual sewing buddies to all sign up for the same class at Crimson Tate. We are doing the American Jane Merry Go Round Quilt. I am doing mine in Denyse Schmidt’s new Chickopee line. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this quilt. I really just wanted to hang out with my friends. But now that I have started it, I think I’m going to adore it.

Brooke and I are planning on doing Denyse Schmidt’s Single Girl pattern (again for me). I bought Tula Pink’s Birds and Bees line. I don’t want to cut it up. It’s amazing. The lady bugs are my favorite.

I am also working on a custom baby quilt. The woman I am making it for had scraps left over from custom bedding and curtains she had made for the baby’s room, so I used some of that mixed in with some other coordinating fabrics.
Here’s how it looks so far.

I am also working on a secret baby quilt so no photos yet. On top of those projects, a quilt for each my mom and sister are currently sitting on the back burner. I have also been attempting to finish up any projects that have just been laying around. I have a really simple queen sized quilt I am finishing the quilting on so hopefully I’ll get it bound and photographed soon.

I’ve also been messing around with designing fabrics through Spoonflower. I currently have several prints for sale. Here is my sampler I ordered to proof my designs so I could start selling them.

I’ve cut them down and even made a few items from the squares. I’ve been adding these and iPad leather accented bags on my Etsy.

Whew! In my free time (HA!) I’ve been trying to get some bags and accessories made for a show in September. More on that later.

A few new bags

While I’ve been sharing a lot of the projects I finished over break, I’d like to show you some of the stuff I’m working on now too. Every other Saturday I go to open sew at a fabric shop near my house. It’s nice to get together with other sewers and get opinions and inspiration and just hang out. Yesterday I decided to work on some Jane Market totes. I plan on taking them to get groceries so I can quit hoarding plastic bags because I feel to guilty to get rid of them. Plus these are way prettier.

I think the farm themed one might be my favorite. I am thinking about giving my sister the bird one for her birthday. I didn’t use interfacing but each has canvas as the lining fabric so it’s a little sturdier.

New Etsy Shop now open!

It’s been a little quiet on here recently, but that’s because I have been working on opening my new Etsy shop. It’s a mix of vintage books turned notebooks, vintage ephemera paper, and sewn accessories as well. Take a look, I hope you like it.

Summer Porch – Outdoor Living

I haven’t touched my porch since moving into my house last summer. I had other things that I needed to take care of first, like making sure I had a bed and finding the coffee pot so I would have adequate caffeine to complete all my new and exciting projects. Now that warmer weather is (hopefully) right around the corner, I really want to make my porch a place I’d actually like to spend some time.

When I moved in, this bench was left on the porch.

It would be perfect with some cushions. The only problem is, it’s not any sort of standard size. It appears to have been made from scraps left over from the posts. Apart from a a few hazardous looking nails, it’s totally salvageable. I’ll just have to make my own cushions. The only issue I’m having is cost. That foam filler can get a little pricey.

So now, let me share with you my
“If Money Were No Object, Which Unfortunately It Always Is, Porch Makeover”!

Handbags and Accessories I Want!

I am constantly on the hunt for gorgeous bags. I have entirely too many. I have a huge box ready to go to the consignment shop. I have trouble spending too much though. I know I should be buying quality, not quantity, but let’s be honest, I change my mind a lot. That makes it hard for me to spend more than $50 on a bag (and even $50 invokes slight feelings of guilt). I constantly return to Fossil, but I just can’t convince myself to hit the purchase button.

Here’s what I’m loving.

Seriously, I would accept any of these. Which is your favorite or not really your style? Where do you shop for cute bags?
