The Longest To Do List

I think I am in the middle of more projects than ever before.

My friend Brooke got several of the usual sewing buddies to all sign up for the same class at Crimson Tate. We are doing the American Jane Merry Go Round Quilt. I am doing mine in Denyse Schmidt’s new Chickopee line. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this quilt. I really just wanted to hang out with my friends. But now that I have started it, I think I’m going to adore it.

Brooke and I are planning on doing Denyse Schmidt’s Single Girl pattern (again for me). I bought Tula Pink’s Birds and Bees line. I don’t want to cut it up. It’s amazing. The lady bugs are my favorite.

I am also working on a custom baby quilt. The woman I am making it for had scraps left over from custom bedding and curtains she had made for the baby’s room, so I used some of that mixed in with some other coordinating fabrics.
Here’s how it looks so far.

I am also working on a secret baby quilt so no photos yet. On top of those projects, a quilt for each my mom and sister are currently sitting on the back burner. I have also been attempting to finish up any projects that have just been laying around. I have a really simple queen sized quilt I am finishing the quilting on so hopefully I’ll get it bound and photographed soon.

I’ve also been messing around with designing fabrics through Spoonflower. I currently have several prints for sale. Here is my sampler I ordered to proof my designs so I could start selling them.

I’ve cut them down and even made a few items from the squares. I’ve been adding these and iPad leather accented bags on my Etsy.

Whew! In my free time (HA!) I’ve been trying to get some bags and accessories made for a show in September. More on that later.

Back to Work

Well, my long, wonderful spring break has come to an end…sigh. If you’ve just recently started reading my blog, don’t think I’m amazing because of how fast I’ve been cranking out quilts. It’s because I literally slept and sewed ALL break. I’ll still be doing quite a bit of sewing because I’m getting ready for the INDIEana Handicraft Exchange in June and just applied for another smaller show in the beginning of May. (Wish me luck!)

I am so excited for the Handicraft show. Look! There I am!

Also, I had a HUGE spike in my views on here and flickr. A friend informed me that Jeni of In Color Order had linked to my banner quilt on her blog. She also linked one of my sewing buddies, elle square. I am honored to be on her blog. I love all of her work.

I am totally eating up all of the love my quilts have been getting. I am so proud of my work and it’s always so nice to know others like it too! I am also really happy to announce that the Best in Show pattern is now available in my shop. If you are in Indianapolis, you can also purchase a paper pattern at Crimson Tate.

Thanks for the love everyone. I’ll try to keep updating often, just maybe with fewer projects now that I’m back to my day job.

Flea Market Fancy Banner Quilt

As I mentioned in my last post, that whole banner quilt pattern I was working on didn’t turn out so hot on the first try. I really wanted to have this finished by First Friday so I can show it off. I did it in a bit of a hurry, but took time to make sure everything was just right and record all of my steps so I can make a really good pattern for it.

I am sort of in love with this one. Here is the top (that I managed to crank out in just a few hours). I think Oliver (one of the kitties that lives in my yard) liked it too but wasn’t too keen on having her photo taken.

And here is the finished quilt.

And the back.

I am finishing up writing the pattern for this quilt and plan on having it for sale in my shop pretty soon.

I think I’ll be slowing down quite a bit since my break is almost over and I’ll be heading back to work. I’m really happy with everything that I completed though!

New Quilts

Did I mention I’ve been sewing non-stop? So as promised here are the new quilts that are or are soon to be for sale in my shop.

I originally made this one for myself and still really like it so I am not sure if I am going to sell it or not, but I figured it needed a good photograph anyway.

And finally is the banner quilt I have been working on. After finishing it up, which I wasn’t too pleased with, I decided it was all wrong. It’s too narrow and long. I’m still planning on selling it if anyone is interested in it, but I don’t think it’s my best work. I totally redid the quilt and love the new one. I’ll share that one in my next post.

More soon.

Happy Dance!

I found out yesterday that I got into a really great art/craft fair for June 9th. It’s called the INDIEana Handicraft Exchange. It’s much more modern than your normal “craft fair” and I’ve been going for the past several years. I signed up to share a booth with my friend Heather who runs the store Crimson Tate. I am so excited!

Now I’m just sewing sewing sewing! I have so much to do. In addition to the show, I have to send iPad sleeves and clutches up to the shop where I sell in Chicago as well as get ready for First Friday at Crimson Tate.

Here is a lovely shot of the fabric I am using for a quilt.

And a shot of the quilt in progress.

More soon!

Pennant quilt and possible pattern

I finished up this lovely quilt top while at Downtown Sewcial at Crimson Tate last weekend. Heather posted a picture of it on her facebook and it’s gotten a lot of attention. People asking if it’s a class or a pattern they can buy. It’s just something I whipped up. Anyway, I am working on getting it finished so I can write a pattern for it and get it sold!

Would any of you be interested in a pattern?

Baby Shower

The baby shower was lovely. It was a beautiful day and the decoration ended up matching the flowering trees. Here is a terrible photo of the paper lanterns and paper garland that I made. It looked way better in person, I promise.

Adorable and delicious cupcakes.

And the quilt was adored by all.

And now for some more works in progress.

This has been sitting in a box FOREVER. I’ve had the blocks made for a while and just never put them together. This is 12 of the blocks and I have 9 more. I think I am just going to turn it into two small quilts instead of one larger quilt.

This second quilt top is my own design and I love how it turned out.

That’s all for now. I plan on having a lot to post while I am on break so check back again soon!

Goodbye Single Girl Baby Quilt

Sigh, goodbye baby quilt. I really love this quilt. I think I may have to make another…

So we are throwing a little baby shower lunch for a woman I work with (aka the one getting the quilt above). I was put in charge of decorations, which was totally fine by me. I’m not much of a cook. Here are the pretty simple baby shower decorations I came up with. It sort of went along with the shower invitation design which had balloons on it, so I just stuck with a circle theme. Can circles be a theme? I love the paper garland and had a lot of it so I actually also used some of it to wrap the gift as well.

I haven’t really been doing a whole lot of sewing, but I have been doing quite a bit of shopping. It’s a little too easy to buy fabric online while I’m taking a lunch break at work. Since I work at a school, I have TWO WEEKS of spring break coming up so I have a lot of sewing plans for that time. I am still waiting to see if I got in to the Indieana Handicraft exchange, but in the meantime, I will have a little table at my friend’s fabric shop, Crimson Tate. We have a thing here (which I think a lot of other city’s do too) called First Friday. The first friday of every month, shops, galleries, and art studios open their doors for a little party. I’m going to set up a little table and sell my goods. I’m hoping to clean out what I currently have in my inventory so I can get some new exciting stuff made.

Anyway, here is some of the pretty fabric I’ve picked up lately.

I also bought this awesome pattern a while ago from The Sometimes Crafter. I’d really like to get one of these made soon, but I’m not sure how much time it will take.

A beautiful weekend and a finished project

This past weekend was so beautiful. I spent a lot of time outside and spent some time just sitting on the porch and enjoying the view of the house across the street getting fixed up along with this lovely tree. This is my favorite part of the view from my house.

I also purchased a decent iron and I think it has changed my life. The one I’ve been using was the cheapest iron I could find. This new one actually makes the ironing somewhat enjoyable!

And here is the finished project! It’s a set of pillowcases. Someone I know online saw pictures of my chevron quilt and had these commissioned. Aren’t they lovely?

And in even better news, I have two weeks of spring break starting at the end of the day today!!!!
